THE RIFT – Single Review ‘Bad Luck’ Release 11th June 2020 on all Major Platforms.

    Review by Neil Franklin

Forming in 2009, hard hitting rock band from Los Angeles THE RIFT come with an edgy driving twist on rock music. Inspired by influences such as Muse, Highly Suspect, System of a Down, 311, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Keys, and Nothing More, you know this is not going to be your typical Band.  A rift is traditionally an open space. THE RIFT “is a place of possibilities and promise” inspiring them to start this crazy journey.

We want to create a new sound that’s heavy, soulful, and rocks your face off, that creates a rift within the fragmented world of musical genres itself.”

    ‘Bad Luck’
Wasn’t sure where this song was going to end up.. after the initial heavy, crunchy guitar it drops into a slower, funkier groove with bass and drums that then drops again before picking up into the chorus and once again that heavy guitar riff. This seems to be theme until about 3 parts of the way through, then it goes into overdrive and takes off completely..heavy riffage, thunderous drumming and a bass line to match with added ‘Wah-Wah’ a sweet guitar solo. …In my opinion this is a great track that keeps getting better with every listen, definitely worth checking out. I’m now hooked..off to check out their back catalogue. 9/10
