Shinedown The Revolutions Live Tour with special guests Papa Roach and Spiritbox at FirstBank Amphitheater Franklin, TN (US) October 3, 2023

From Festivals to chapels or a sold-out venue to a pop up in a field, Shinedown has been able to adapt and showcase their range and abilities of the magnitude of what they have become and their appreciation to their fans. Shinedown is touring with Papa Roach and Spiritbox in support of their chart-topping seventh studio album, Planet Zero.

This was my first show at First Bank Amphitheater. What I noticed about the atmosphere was the tranquility and solitude of the area. The acoustics from being down inside a rock quarry were amazing a it was beautifully lit and well maintained. The biggest surprise was a waterfall that you get to pass by to get to your seat. If you know me, you know I love waterfalls, so it was an added bonus. The diversity of the crowd was a mixture of everyone… I saw a 2-year-old with their ear protection and a very sweet elderly couple helping each other to their seats. This was sadly the last show of the year at First Bank Amphitheater since it’s an outdoor venue and the seasons are changing.

Spiritbox is one of those bands that cannot be contained. Hailing from Victoria, British Columbia. Their style in the music world embodies several heavy-metal styles and remains fluid with their ever-changing style throughout their artistic use of technologies like the digital synthesizer and over the years have evolved into the metalcore that you can hear on the release of their full-length album, Eternal Blue (released September 2021). 2023 has brought constant excitement with the band. Spiritbox released new singles “The Void” in April, “Jaded” in August and the announcement of their new EP, The Fear of Fear, to be released on November 3, 2023 through Pale Chord and Rise. Courtney LaPlante’s fierce style with her deep growls and energetic onstage presence erupted the moment Spiritbox took the stage. Playing a variety of old and new songs like “Circle with me” and “Holy Roller” she delivered every note to a hungry crowd filled with dedicated fans and made many more including myself. Spiritbox left the masses wanting more and that’s right where they needed to be for what was in store for them next.

American rock band Papa Roach was created in 1993 with their first tour van which was named Moby Dick. Original Drummer Dave Buckner suggested the band to be called Papa Gato” but lead singer Jacoby Shaddix decided to call themselves Papa Roach based on his step-grandfathers nickname Howard William “Papa” Roach, Sr. What started off as a hardcore punk band and one of the forefathers of nu metal, has transformed into many different combined styles of metal and punk rock that works well.  Congratulations have to be given to Papa Roach for their 2023 iHeart Radio Music Awards Rock Artist of the Year win!

I have seen Papa Roach many times in the past and this had to be one of the top shows. From the moment Papa Roach stepped on stage the energy could not be contained. Don’t let the fact that Papa Roach has been around for 30 years fool you into thinking they can’t hang with the big dogs anymore. The pure energy and charismatic passion have been a huge part of Jacoby Shaddix in everything he does on stage. His ability to command the audience and stage engulfed the masses and they were reciprocating the energy back to him. The way Jacoby interacts with the masses between each song and makes you feel something is sensational. He spoke candidly about suicide prevention and how its ok to talk about it with the campaign “Talk away the Dark Campaign” and making a donation to a suicide prevention campaign. Afterwards he asked everyone to take out any light source they had to light up the sky for their song “leave a light on” that Jacoby dedicated to the late great Chester Bennington of Linkin Park whom lost his struggle to suicide years age. Jacoby then spoke of addiction and how he is so thankful to so many people in helping him with his recovery from Alcohol with his sobriety lasting 12 years strong now. To top that, he welcomed Chris Daughtry on stage to help him sing “Scars”.
