The HU Bring Their Hunnu Rock Revolution to the UK and Euro
There are few bands in modern heavy music that sound quite like The HU. Hailing from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, the four-piece have spent the past decade turning traditional Mongolian musical heritage into a thunderous, globally recognised sound they call Hunnu Rock. Now, the band are preparing to bring that distinctive combination of throat singing, traditional instrumentation and heavy rock to stages across the UK and Europe with their upcoming Warrior Chant Tour.
Beginning in Glasgow on 29 September 2026, the headline run will take The HU through a series of UK and European dates during September and October, with French Nordic-folk group SKÁLD joining the tour as special guests. The UK leg includes stops in Glasgow, Bristol, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Belfast, Dublin, Birmingham, London, Manchester and Norwich.
For fans who have followed The HU since their breakthrough, the tour represents another chapter in an extraordinary rise. Formed in 2016, the band quickly attracted international attention by creating something that felt both ancient and unmistakably modern. Traditional Mongolian instruments such as the morin khuur and tovshuur sit alongside distorted guitars and pounding drums, while Mongolian throat singing provides a vocal presence unlike anything normally associated with contemporary metal.
Their international breakthrough came with songs including “Yuve Yuve Yu” and “Wolf Totem”, tracks that introduced audiences around the world to a musical identity rooted firmly in Mongolian culture. Rather than simply borrowing elements of folk music, The HU built their entire artistic identity around combining those traditions with the weight and attitude of rock and metal.
That identity has continued to develop across their albums, including The Gereg and Rumble of Thunder. Their latest album, HUN, expands the band’s catalogue further, featuring songs including “Horsemen”, “The Men” and “Lost Soul”.
A new live chapter
The Warrior Chant Tour is particularly intriguing because The HU have promised a new setlist and a brand-new live performance. The band have described the upcoming show as being filled with “hope and energy”, alongside the fiery performance style that has become part of their reputation.
For a band whose music is already so physical and atmospheric on record, the live environment provides an opportunity to take that contrast even further.
