I arrived at The Norva later than I normally do as the day job kind of got in the way. The crowd was already in the venue, and most of them were in the merch line for a show with a killer lineup. I got set up and ready for the festivities to begin.
First up for the night was Massachutsetts (USA) based Wind Walkers. The band formed in 2017 and currently consists of Timothy Comeau and Neil Comeau on guitar, Craig Martin on bass, Ethan Cheesman on drums, and vocalist Trevor Borg. They have been described as a post-hardcore/alternative metal band and tonight, they lived up to that description. They opened with The Overlook and their consisted of:
- The Overlook
- Dead Talk
- Feeding The Gods
- Drowning Hymns
- Bodybag
- Hangfire
WIND WALKERS
Next up was Langhorne, Pennsylvania (USA) based Zero 9:36. Zero (Matthew Cullen) started in music at the young age of 11 and focused on his influences of modern hip-hop. Then, later in life, he found metal music and merged the two in his own style. I have seen him perform in various lineups with three to five members. Tonight, it was three and the show opened with Underneath. Having seen him before, I knew it wasn’t his usual rambunctious self on stage and a couple of songs in, He said that he has been “sick AF” and couldn’t not perform for the people who had come to see him. Even being sick, he delivered. By the way, the 9:36 is the time of his birth. His set consisted of:
- Underneath
- Kill Me
- Break
- I Felt It All
- The Fear
- Chasing Shadows
- Stuck in My Ways
- Adrenaline
- The End
He will be taking off from his tour until he starts back up in Europe after the first of the year
ZERO 9:36
Next up was Newtown, Connecticut (USA) based Currents. Having formed in 2011, they have gone thru numerous lineup changes, and I’ve seen them several times. This lineup is fire and they currently hit the stage singer Brian Wille, guitarists Ryan Castaldi and Chris Wiseman, bassist and backing vocalist Christian Pulgarin, and drummer Matt Young. A metal core band, they are very in touch with the crowd and leave it all on the stage They have released 3 full length albums and 3 Eps to date and are currently touring in support of The Death We Seek, released last year. They will be touring in the UK & Europe in December, as well as performing at Donnington in June. Their setlist consisted of:
- Never There
- Monsters
- Kill the Ache
- Better Days
- The Death We Seek
- So Alone
- Unfamiliar
- Let Me Leave
- My Disguise
- Living in Tragedy
- Remember Me

But wait, there’s more. Originally formed as a side project named Vessels by vocalist Landon Tewers, The Plot in You formed in 2010 and has released three EPs and five studio albums to date. The group is composed of Tewers, guitarist Josh Childress, bassist Ethan Yoder and drummer Michael Cooper. They have a metalcore sound that is in your face and draws you into their world. One of the things I’ve liked about them is how they work the stage for the crowd. They are constantly shifting around who is where so that they are literally in front of everyone in the crowd (obviously Michael Cooper can’t really pick up his drum set and move it), but you get the idea. They started off their set with Don’t Look Away and followed it up with Divide and Pretend. They are heading to South America next on their tour, before resuming their North America tour in February. Tonight’s setlist included:
- Don’t Look Away
- Divide
- Pretend
- Paradigm
- THE ONE YOU LOVED
- Crows
- Face Me
- Been Here Before
- Forgotten
- Spare Me
- All That I Can Give
- Closure
- Time Changes Everything
- Left Behind
Encore
- Disposable Fix
- Feel Nothing THE PLOT IN YOU
-
