It’s always interesting for us to see a band for the first time that has been generating a lot of buzz within the music scene.
Management/publicists/labels are all paid to create hype for their clients (the band), so we often take what we hear about a band with a grain of salt until we’ve had the opportunity to see them perform live, to not only judge their on-stage performance but to also gauge their fan reaction. After seeing THE HU perform at both the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA and Las Rageous Festival in Las Vegas, NV, we were pleasantly surprised to see their talent and live performance exceeded the industry fueled hype and more importantly, fans were genuinely interested, attentive, and engaged. Music industry power and money can buy opportunities, but it can’t buy the reaction from the fans that THE HU was receiving.
It was after their set at Aftershock when #MischievousMel was able to speak with 4 (of 8) members of the band, with the help of their Tour Manager and translator, on camera for Tattoo.com. Sit back, listen, and enjoy as Mel talks about playing to American audiences, selling out shows, and how their music crosses cultural lines. Here’s the link https://youtu.be/FSYbtfLVrzg
