Singles Review – OLDSELVES

Review by John Bear

Raw, unapologetic and honest Metal/Post-Hardcore hailing from North Yorkshire UK.     OLD SELVES scream raw power and emotion, lay it all out on the table and don’t let you leave until you’ve eaten it all up.

Forming in spring 2019 OLD SELVES played their first gig 1st December that year. Meeting through mutual friends and having played in bands previously, Ray Kilvington (bassist) and Kiel Hodgson (guitarist) have in fact known each other their whole lives. “We wanted to progress from playing pop-punk by trying something different and heavier, we think OLD SELVES fits that description somewhat well.”
“Breathing Space – Single release. This has a truly haunting guitar hook throughout with irresistible dual vocals. Although this track evokes Foo Fighters at their best, this would be a lazy comparison – emotive and rocking at the same time – Top draw.”

“Strength In Four – Single release.  This track sounds like POD jamming with Queens of the Stone Age – really love the vocals, both clean and gruff. Really accomplished heavy melodies and haunting – a track that’s certainly worth your time checking out.”
