Rock/Reggae/Rap stalwarts the Dirty Heads and 311 provided the perfect Summer-time soundtrack for their fans who descended upon the Toyota Music Factory amphitheater in Irving, Texas on August 8th. Despite the heat index still in the low 100’s at 8 PM, the covered portion of the venue and the open lawn portion of the amphitheater remained packed full of loyal fans.
Both bands performed classics that appeased their long time fans, but this show wasn’t just a retro or flashback show featuring the hits. The Dirty Heads released their brand new album “Super Moon” the following day – August 9th – and 311 released “Voyager” on July 12th, the bands 13th album. For the masses of fans who braved the triple digit heat, they were rewarded with both of each bands “best of” catalog and new songs that may become their new favorites. As for each bands performance and stage production, both were exceptional. The performances I had expected to be top level, but I was surprised at the size of each bands stage production. Both set-ups were grand in scale and enhanced the bands performances without being unnecessarily distracting.
Although this tour will be over in the near future, both bands, having released new albums recently, will be out in force touring to support their respective albums. So fear not if you missed this tour, but don’t make the same mistake again by missing the Dirty Heads or 311 when they come to your town.
